I am very excited and pleased to announce that I have finally opened an Etsy shop to sell fine art prints of my photographic work. The next thing is to start promoting my shop; an important thing I have not done yet is tagging my listings so buyers can find my work in their search.  Thanks to some lovely and supportive friends I have already made two sales!! I am excited and optimistic about the project, and just a little nervous about the starting period. I am so thrilled that the Swedish furniture and homeware giant, Ikea, who I relate to in more than one way, have bought another licence for a still life image of mine to use for their art posters. January Still Life  This image is very special to me not only because it is a still life I created from scratch, but also because it was the first significant still life I created with my new iPhone as part of a quest to master iPhoneography at the beginning of last year.  Here is my previous Ikea image sale for art poster use. 

In this frustrating and rather sad time of the Coronavirus pandemic it was good to receive news of a new book cover from Trevillion Images. It is an American cover of the book by the American author Lori Rohda that will be released on 11 August 2020. "The Mill Of Lost Dreams" is a story set at the end of the 19th century around Massachusetts textile mills. It is a story of love, friendship and sacrifice that provides an inside view into the daily life of seven courageous souls who leave home and risk everything for their shared dream of a better life. My original image shows Gibson Mill  and was taken on a glorious winter walk around Hardcastle Crags in the beautiful West Yorkshire countryside, back in 2011. It is a second time this image of mine has been licensed for a book cover, previously appearing on the cover of a French novel  by the author Colette Vlerick.

I love all my January book cover sales statements from Trevillion Images. There is nothing better or more stimulating for me than start the new year with a new book cover. And it is a very special one as I am on it as well!! My image of still life with self portrait, taken back in 2012, was licensed for a Lithuanian book cover of the novel by the Swedish author Sofia Lundberg, entitled "A Question Mark Is Half a Heart". It is a story of a successful female photographer who sets out on a journey, both physical and mental, to overcome shame and guilt and to find the truth and herself. Original

It's a happy day for me and my photography today as I have had a Trevillion statement confirming a significant sale: Ikea UK have licensed my photo for their art posters! It's always a special pleasure for me when one of my still life images sells as those are the images I have created from scratch. This particular one of rose-hip I shot at this time of the year back in 2010. The rose-hip branches come from the bush in the car park outside my house. Each year I cut some and bring back into my house. The client asked the Trevillion Client Account Director if I could provide a few words about the image: "Where your inspiration came from? And maybe a title (if you have something in mind)?" This is what I replied: "  I love red berries in photographs (and generally, splashes of red, for that matter) and rose-hip with its oval shape is my favourite. I am impressed by the wild and straggly look of rose-hip twigs and how each berry has its own stem. As a still...

I am so pleased to have received a statement from Trevillion Images.  January statements are the best ones because they come as a New Year incentive for my imminent work. I have a new, German book cover! It is a composite cover consisting of at least four, I'd say five, images with only a small part of an image of mine being used. My image was flipped vertically, and then a small part comprising the path and purple heather was  used as one of the several parts in the creation of the book cover image. For me this book cover is special because this is the first time one of my images of Haworth/Haworth moor has been licensed, Haworth being my chosen haven and heaven on earth. I do like this book cover, and particularly the way my bit adds colour and charm to it. I couldn't have possibly asked for a better theme than a new book cover for a first post of the year. The day before yesterday I received  a Trevillion Images sales statement with a great new book cover on it. Thank you, Trevillion ! The book is written by two English authors working as a team on detective novels under the pen name of James Henry. The authors are James Gurbutt and Henry Sutton. "Yellowhammer" is their latest novel, to be released in July this year. "Yellowhammer" is the third different title book cover this image of mine has been used for and the sixth time license has been bought for this image to be used as a book cover. You can see how it was used in the past here ,  here  and here . The interesting thing is that with "Yellowhammer" the image was turned into black & white for the first time. And it comes at a time when I have been thinking of creating some black & white photos again. Just a quick post to record some December sales with Getty Images. This photo of my kitchen window at Christmas 2016 sold three times in three different locations - UK, Spain and USA. I took this photo back in 2010. Desmond, our beautiful and very clever rescue cat waited every morning on my bedroom window sill for me to get up and make a fuss of him. Sadly, we lost him months after adopting him. The photo has sold before and this time in China. This photo of the lake Thirlmere was shot in 2012, on one of our regular visits to the Lake District. It evokes cherished memories as on that particular day I was there with a good Croatian friend. The licence to use this image was bought this December by a UK client. A while ago I decided to stop submitting my images to Getty because of their offensively low tariffs. However, the December sales, which were not lucrative by any means but can be deemed acceptable, have encouraged me to adopt a more positive outlook about submitt...

I am delighted to learn, although a bit tardy, that I have a new French book cover The story is based on a true investigative work; it is a romance where the main protagonist works in a large weaving factory, hence the choice of a photo of a mill. My photo, which I took back in 2011, shows Gibson Mill , built in around 1800. It is situated within the beautiful Hardcastle Crags woodland in West Yorkshire. It was one of the first mills of the Industrial Revolution. I also sold license to the Slovenian magazine " Berem Beres " for use of one of my images on the front page of their book catalogue supplement. And last, but not least, The UK women's magazine " Candis " have used my photo of a wedding car in their June issue. I must admit I was not familiar with this magazine even though it is one of the best selling women's magazines. I look forward to getting to know it and maybe getting my hands on a copy of the June issue. ...

Just a quick post to record a little but very special sale of two of my photos I have with Getty Images online photo agency. They are of my handsome partner G who I have always been proud of when it comes to the looks (and not only looks, of course!). The images are from our very first photo shoot ever (it took all of sixteen years for one to happen!) which I blogged about here . We are both amused, but also pleased that our joint photographic effort has been rewarded. The top photo sold in the U.S.A. and the bottom one in Japan.

Yesterday was a happy, very happy day in my life as I was notified by Trevillion Images about three new book covers, all very special to me. I took this photo in my dining room back in 2014. It is virtually completely an "as found" image with hardly any arrangement of the objects. What did take some time to achieve was finding a good angle of shooting. The fact that a photo of a scene from my home has been bought for a book cover makes my feel overjoyed. Needless to say, I am so grateful to the art buyer for this Swedish book cover. The book, "There is Always Forgiveness" in translation , is a general fiction novel by an acclaimed Swedish author, and is the fourth book in a hit series. A separate license has been bought for an audio version of the book, too. There could not have possibly been better news for me on the book cover sales front than my best selling image having sold in Croatia too! This image of mine was used for the original German edit...

Thanks to the buyer in Belgium. I took this photo back in 2010 and this is the third time a license has been bought for it, making it my second best selling photo, the first being this one . It was a corporate client who purchased it this time, but I am not sure how the image is being used. It has been a long time since I created simple minimalistic still lifes like this one. Simplicity always works and is always popular both among viewers and buyers, and I have been thinking for quite some time to go back to that sort of still life work. The sale of this image has certainly given me a new incentive to do so.

Just a quick post from a very happy woman. Last night I learned I had sold a royalty free license to the image below. It is my very first sale of a photo of my beloved native town Zagreb. That is great news for me because I don't live there anymore and therefore have very little opportunity to take pics over there. The photo sold in Austria through Getty Images. That is all the information I have. Unfortunately, the sale statement doesn't tell me by who or for what purpose the image has been bought.  I have previously published the image on my blog here .

I am just a passionate amateur photographer who only takes the sort of photos my soul tells me to take, but, I must admit, one of the most satisfying, exciting, inspiring and flattering things in my photographic life are image sales for book covers. There are not many of them, and I know there will never be many, but I don't mind and am quite happy with just the few that come my way. In the last quater I have sold rights through Trevillion Images for as many as four book covers which is more than I have ever done in that space of time. The interesting thing is that three of the sales are based on the same image! And that very image had already been used once in the past so I've got four very nice sales out of the same image! This is the winning photo. It certainly is one of my best images, and I am very pleased that it has been rewarded by repeated license sales. I decided to share on my blog only more substantial sales from the two online photo agencies I submit my images to. Getty Images have some very low tariffs for low resolution images, so some of their sales amount to as little as a dollar or so per image. I make such small sales nearly every month but it has been a while since I had a good sale. So I was pleased to learn that back in December I sold a license to this image to one of the world's largest film and TV production companies based in London. I do not know how or where the client is going to use my image as this is not something Getty Images communicate to photographers. I took the photo in Adel, a suburb in North Leeds, not far from where I live, on a beautiful June day back in 2010. It dates back to the time when I was still relatively new to using textures in Photoshop post processing. The scene can be seen near Adel Church from the road leading to it. So happy that I have another book cover! Thank you Trevillion Images ! And this time it is an English author which I so wished for! It is a German edition for a kindle, as far as I know. It features the image which has been the cover photo of my blog ever since I created it, so yes it is one of my personal favourites. The original is quite moody and dark - it was getting on towards a rather dramatic sunset at the Lake District village of Troutbeck. I like how the image was changed into a brighter and serene setting for the book cover.
