Little Stories Of My Life In Pictures: October

A photo diary of a photographer, nature lover, keen home maker and the Brontë Sisters fan

October was the month when I fulfilled my biggest, long time wish; when my most cherished of dreams came true: I moved to Haworth in Brontë Country! Haworth, my spiritual home of many years has finally become my actual home.

As everyone knows, moving is a very engaging and stressful business, so I didn't have much time or inclination for my photography; but I did find a few moments of escape and managed to capture some of the magic nature regales us with in this wonderful month of the year.

Heather on Haworth Moor. I took this photo back in August and thought I'd pair it with this quote by Emily Brontë to mark and celebrate my move to Haworth.

Whitebeam berries. I love trees with autumn berries. This beautiful tree sits on the edge of the path dividing Gotts and Armley Parks, which were my local parks back in Leeds. Loved the juxtaposition of living and dying berries here.

A tranquil scene I saw on my walk along the Leeds - Liverpool Canal between Kirkstall and Gotts Park on a quiet Sunday afternoon.

Autumn sundown in Gotts Park.

A self portrait taken in a little park, popularly called pocket park, near my old home in Leeds. It was and always will be a special place to me for more than one reason. The image is primarily about autumn vibes in nature, but also a pensive and forlorn mood I was going through at the time.

Russet leaves carpet and mellow sunshine filtering through the trees on the canal side path in Gotts Park. This beautiful park is one of the few things I will miss having left the area.

Cherry trees in Armley Park. In spring they treated us to the magnificent pink blossom, and now in autumn to stunning colour leaves.

Lantern Lane. A photogenic, historic narrow lane flanked by trees forming an arch above the ground in Armley Park. I am always on the lookout for photos around here and am very often gratified.

Apsley Street, Haworth. This is the first photo I took after moving to Haworth. It is a picturesque, steep back street near my house which I use to go down to the bottom of the village; it is also one of the ways I can walk up to the top part and Main Street.

Dusk at Haworth Station. This image, taken on the last day of the month, Halloween, is very significant to me. Not only am I very happy with the way I captured the scene and the atmosphere, but the image also holds a memory of a special day in my life.
