Coming home

This year for some reason the grass is not getting cut in the park. I don't really mind it, it's nature and nature is beautiful. I love to see various tall grasses and Queen Anne's lace. The light was beautiful this afternoon as I was coming home from work so out went my new mobile....I'm having fun with it.

Foxgloves Seasons

I have not been a great fan of foxgloves but lately they have grown on me. They are a bit of an "acquired taste" for me. Like many flowers I find them quite difficult to photograph in an interesting way but they add great spots of colour in landscape scenes. In the shot below I liked how they worked together with the dry stone wall. They seem to also grow freely in shaded areas at this time of year and I wonder if they would do well in my front garden instead of hollyhocks and lupins that I planted from roots but am seeing no signs of yet.

The Darley Mill Centre

I am a very keen and passionate amateur photographer but not one of those who always carry the camera with them. It's simply not always practical and I don't really get inspired to take photos unless I purposely go out to take them or take the time to create a still life at home. But a while ago I warmed to an idea of taking everyday snapshots with a mobile phone. They may be little more than records of an event, a memory or even creative images... the point would be to take some good shots of everyday life in between my outings with the camera. I needed a new phone with a better camera but I did not want it to cost me very much so I opted for a Motorola G smartphone. I tested it on a trip to Darley Mill, a very beautiful 17th century corn mill owned by the company I work for. Inside there is a most charming home furnishings and homeware and gifts shopping centre as well as a gorgeous restaurant serving delicious food. I don't know what I enjoyed more -  the experience of the mill or taking photos with my new mobile phone. A great day and I hope my new phone will make my life that little bit greater in general.

Happy Father's Day, Dad!

I genuinely believe not many people can say they have such a good, lovely and dear father-in-law as I have. I lost my own father when I was very young and I guess that is why I appreciate him and love him even more. I created this image for him back in 2010 (it is showing the card we sent him then) and it is only high time I posted it here for this year's Father's Day. Cheers, and thanks so much, Dad! xxx
